Well finally getting back on track haha. It has been a very busy summer. The last two weeks a no exception. I will start back with the 300 a month soon I need to go through all my receipts and get caught up with it

The first week of the month I was at fair. We had a really good fair this year. Had a few new things and continued some of the new things that we had last year. It did wear me out though a lot of work from sunup to well after sundown.

Kids Day

When I got home I had an extra baby goat I din’t even know my doe was expecting and I have been so busy I hadn’t even noticed her bagging up so that was a nice surprise. During this time we also did family pictures which turned out really nice we went up in the hill where we had an awesome background.

The second week I started getting some of my teacher kids back since teachers had to be back a week before school started so I had a few extra this week.I decided to wait and start the lessons after labor day when everything starts to settle down and everyone is in routine. Andy and I went up to his work and picked 2 5 gallon buckets of nanking cherries, the bushes were l loaded. I steam juiced them and made 25 pints of juice, I will make some jelly a little later on with some of the juice. On Wendsday evening my Brother and sister inlaw had a small birthday party for my nephews 2nd birthday. Then we left Thursday evening and went to Olatha for a music festival. It was nice to get away and just chill out., Friday we went onto Montrose and went to a few stores, I found some fig chili jam figured I really needed it and so glad I did it is so so good. We went back and some friends of ours showed up so we got their camp set up and had dinner together.  The guys went and played music and her and I had a great visit. Saturday her and I went to Palasade to get some peaches and cantaloupe. We came home on Sunday and got gardens watered and chores done.

I came home with a little over a case of peaches.3 cantaloupes and a case of corn.

On Monday I put the peaches in the freezer, I put then in there whole till I have time to work them up and I can also use them for Andy’s protein shakes just pull them out of the freezer and run under hot water to take the skin off and ready to use. On Then I had a Fire Belles meeting that evening. On Wednesday my Aunt came over to help so I was able to get the rest of the corn done and in the freezer to use for fried corn. Thursday and Friday I spent a lot of time helping Kayla come up with ideas for her third grade class room since this is her first year to teach third grade. On Saturday we got up early and meet a couple other couple for a jeep trip. We went over Imagene Pass and then went to Ouray for lunch then came back over Ophier pass. It was a lot of fun we stopped at a couple of the old mining camps and dinked around for a bit.

I  love the view from the top of Imagene it is like you are on top of the world you can see so far in every direction.

On the way home we saw a bear it was a pretty good sized one, there was a dead cow in the field it was going to to eat on . We were able to watch it for about 10 minutes was pretty cool. It was dark by the time we got home so did chores and came in.. It was a great trip lots of fun and lots of pictures I will share some of the pictures in another post.

On Sunday we moved some furniture for Kayla and for Joleen that was in the shed. I am trying to clean out one of the sheds so I can move some stuff around and get most of the daycare stuff  in a shed that is easy to get to so I can clean out one of my spare bedrooms. After that I had to run to town City Market had Palisade peaches on sale for 97 cents a pound whice is a lot cheaper then buying them in Palisade ( which is crazy) I bought 2 cases they are still a little green so I will have to wait a bit to work them up. Got home and got the house straightened up and ready for the  next week.

Great article for catching up Connie.
No wonder you don’t have much time for articles, talk about busy…..

For me, this is week 4 of Shingles, and man am I tried of hurting. Doing 800mg Ibuprofen, don’t want to do the heavy duty pain killers, so Mr. Tough Guy is doing what I need to do.

Also had to take Blue to the Vets. Wellllll he has a torn equivalent to a torn ACL. This one is going to hurt the pocket book HARD. But he IS my family, what would you do for your very best friend or family?
So basically if you see an old man with Shingles and a dog with a cast up hind leg, be nice to them hehehe.

Garden seems to be doing “ok” nothing special this year for sure, seems the heat is really getting to it and seems odd to say, but the sun is affecting it kinda strange.

Anyways, going to make this short, the light hurts my eyes.
Have a GREAT week, can’t wait to see next week’s update.

    NRP,
I am so sorry you are having to deal with all that I hope you and Blue get better soon. Makes it hard to think about or do much of anything when in pain like that.

Our gardens are not doing that great that late freeze really put ours back about a month.
And some of our tomatoes look like they have blight. my cabbage, cauliflower, and broccoli are not doing any good at all 🙁 .

Yes, both of those are pretty easy and I love the view on top of Imagene it is like you can see the whole world. Been over black bear a couple of times it is pretty rough in a few spots, to say the least haha. We are going on another trip in September for my nephews Birthday. Not sure which one we will take I would like to go over engineer. and maybe corkscrew since we will be there for the weekend we will be able to do at least two Hopefully it won’t be snowing because I don’t feel like it would be good Haha and Imagene in a bad rainstorm is bad enough but a snowstorm I can’t even imagine haha

    Get to feeling better
    Connie
