MYO Pancake Syrup

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

We don’t have access to real maple syrup (well not that we can afford) so I just make my own. Yes, it is pretty much all sugar but so is store-bought this just doesn’t have all the extra nonsense in it. I make a large batch and keep it in the fridge the family and daycare kids love it. I store extra maple extract just for this.

MYO Pancake Syrup

1 cup granulated white sugar
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/8 tsp. salt
1 cup of water
1/2 tsp. maple flavoring or extract

Directions:
Combine white and brown sugar in a saucepan. Add salt and water.
Bring mixture to a boil. Remove from heat. Add maple flavoring or extract, stirring to mix in.
Cool and serve. Keeps in the refrigerator in a tightly closed container for up to 6 months.

If you don’t want maple flavor, use pure vanilla or almond extract, strawberry, or whatever you want or don’t use any extract at all.

Interesting, may need to build some just to do a taste test.
