Make Your Own Oxyclean

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

I like to make my own Oxiclean since I use a lot of it in my laundry. It seems to help clean and make my laundry brighter. However, I don’t like the price of it. So I just make my own I know big surprise haha.

I know a lot of people like to mix it ahead of time I don’t. I feel like it loses some of its strength when you do that. So I just add mine to the wash water.

I adjust the amount I use depending on the load and how dirty it is.

For really dirty laundry like Andy’s work clothes,  use 1 cup of Hydrogen Peroxide and one cup of washing soda.

For not so dirty laundry such as towels use 1/2 a cup of Hydrogen Peroxide and 1/2 a cup of washing soda.

Just add to the water in your washer as it is filling. If you don’t have washing soda you can go here to see how to make your own.

You can find peroxide at Walmart or any grocery store in the first aid aisle.

I have used the dollar store OxiClean but I don’t think it is as strong as the name brand so I end up using a lot more of it when I use it.  So I don’t save as much as when I make my own.

Sorry have not committed much lately. No excuse just a “sorry”.

Ok on cleaning I use something call PBW or Professional Brewers Wash.
    Unfortunately its very expensive.
Being a cheap SOG, Son of Gun, I mix my own

30% TSP Tri Sodium Phosphate be VERY CAREFUL this stuff if HOT. You can get at most Paint stores or WW.
    70% Oxiclean Free.

This is a good all around heavy duty cleaner. And it WILL take stains right out of Stainless Steel.

Again use as a strong cleaner. But very good to have around.
