MYO Whole Grain Strawberry Breakfast Bars

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

When the girls were still home they liked breakfast bars, well being the cheap frugal person that I am I didn’t want to spend that kind of money on them, not to mention I didn’t like all the extra additives. So I made these instead and they are way better than store bought and the girls loved them.

Whole-Grain Strawberry Breakfast Bars Recipe

Ingredients:
3 c old-fashioned or quick-cooking oats
11/2 c whole-wheat flour
½ c white flour
11/3 c packed brown sugar
2 tsp ground cinnamon
2/3 c canola or vegetable oil
2 large eggs
Strawberry Jelly ( or whatever kind you would like to use )

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Combine oats, flours, sugars, and cinnamon in a food processor. Process until oats are finely ground. Add oil and eggs; pulse to evenly combine, scraping sides of work bowl.
Press half of the crumb mixture evenly on bottom of a well-oiled or greased 9 x 13-inch baking pan. Spread Jelly evenly over crumbs. Top with remaining crumbs and pat down gently. Make sure they are packed down good so the bars will stay together when cut.
Bake 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely in pan. Cut into bars.

I make my own “Granola” Bars.
Cost right at 1/5 what the Store Bought ones run, what a rip-off.
AND ya know what’s really in them, aka not preservatives that ya cant pronounce.

    PS; I’m not frugal, I’m cheap… HAHAHA
