300 a Month, Goals, & Menu

Next year I am going to do the 300 a month just a little different. Since I don’t have to buy most of my meat I am going to drop my challenge down to 200 a month, If you are following along and doing the challenge you can keep yours at 300. I wasn’t able to get as much of my debt paid down as I had wanted to this past year so I plan to attack it pretty hard this year. I have a few ideas to bring in a little more income and I am going to tighten the belt a whole lot more. If you have read my 201 ways to save money you can see some pretty drastic things which I will start implementing a whole lot more of them. I will also be keeping up the deep pantry challenge I will be eating from it but also keeping it stocked up. I will also be doing a lot more make it your self and how to ’s. I kind of got away from that this past year. Hopefully, this next year will be a little easier.

Well, the snow is starting to melt off and getting pretty muddy in places. The long-range forecast doesn’t show much for more snow anytime soon. I am really hoping that this isn’t all we are going to get we need a whole lot more.

I think I am all ready for Christmas except for finishing up Joleen’s afghan, making soap ( which I will start making today) and putting some mug cake kits put together for everyone. We will be going to my Dads Christmas eve for the family Christmas we are going yo have Navajo Tacos. We used to do a 50 dollar gift for the white elephant gift but at Thanksgiving I suggested that we lower it to 20 dollars since we have a lot of younger families that can’t really afford that much ( heck even some of us older ones can’t afford the 50 dollars this year, I know my Brother and us are going to have to use every extra penny to buy hay this year), Then the kids will come over Christmas morning for brunch.

I actually have most of all the gifts wrapped usually I am at the last minute wrapping do have few left but for the most part, they are all wrapped.

I am going to be making a sheet cake for the school once a month which will be great I will bring in a little more money and I will get to practice on my cake skills which have gotten way rusty the past several years since I haven’t done any cakes in forever. I haven’t really ever worked with the fondant which is the big thing now so I am looking forward to learning how to use it.

300 a month,

I bought cheese, pasta, peas, pumpkin seeds, bananas, club soda, a frozen pizza ( I know I know), some Hawaiian king rolls that were marked down, and bread.
I ordered some coconut cream concentrate that I will use to make my own coconut milk with. Andy ordered a case each of oranges and grapefruits from the FFA, then my sister in law gave me another case of each for watching my nephew. Andy also bought 80 pounds of potatoes.

I spent 178.64 add that to the 116.53 from last week for 295.17 for the month. That leaves me 4.83 for the month. Add this to the years total 178.64 +2566.73 for 2745.37 for the year That leaves me 854.63 for the year. One thing that has kept the total down is we haven’t gone to get potatoes yet. I am hoping that they will still have some after the first of the year.

Goals,

Kitchen

Thought about your “Challenge” overnight and I’m going to follow you on the $200 try, although I’m going to cheat and do a HUGE but next before the end of the year.
But like you I have a HUGE amount of meat in the 3 freezers that needs to be used up, I mean 6 Turkeys and 9 Hams is not that much is it??? HAHAHAH For one person??? LOLOL

Have a full 24 case of Jimmy Dean HOT Sausage plus a LOT of other beef and stuff that needs to be cycled out, this may be the time, before the December, paid for, 1/2 beef shows up.
I also need to cycle out a bunch of canned food (homegrown and store bought), so if I can stick with $200 a month, that would be great.

BTW, being debt free is a good thing, and this would help a LOT of people, I see very hard economic times coming down the pike, get rid of those stinking Credit Cards and pay CASH for everything you can.

As I said before, peel off a wad of $20 bills and see how different it than just slipping the CC into the card reader.

      NRP,
So glad you are going to do the challenge, And 3 freezers aren’t to bad hah my kids just can’t understand why I have 4 freezers that are full ( and could really use another one haha). I just them tell someday you may be glad I have them haha.

I can’t wait to be debt free again it is such a good feeling and having the debt I have now is constantly on my mind I just really want it gone. I to see things are going to get ugly and I think sooner than later.

      P.S.
Have a wonderful Christmas and hope Santa is good to you 🙂
