200 a Month, Goals, & Menu

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Thursday evening I had a fire belle meeting all we had to discuss was the upcoming banquet so it was a pretty short meeting.

I got 5 gallons of kombucha pored up, flavored and doing the second ferment.

I got to make bread with my sourdough starter and it is amazing love it and it doesn’t seem to bother my stomach as much as yeast bread does.

I didn’t get a whole lot done Saturday since I had a funeral to go to. This year isn’t starting out that great there have already been several deaths in the community (several from car accidents, Please wear your seatbelts most of the deaths could have been avoided had they had seatbelts on.). Really hoping that will be all for a while.

Sunday we went and helped some friends work their buffalo calves. I have to say it was a little different than working cow calves plus they are a little bigger and a little wilder. And it snowed pretty much the whole time so it was cold and muddy. I was writing the weights and numbers down so I couldn’t really wear any gloves by the time I was done my hands were frozen haha.

200 a month,

I had to run into walmart to get some jars ( which they didn’t have), but I did get a bunch of Christmas stuff on 90% off so I got a couple wrapping papers, some lights ( I will use these in the yard this summer), they had some of the shredded paper that you use in baskets for 22 cents each I got all they had to use in some soap baskets that I wnat to start putting together to sale, and they had kids Christmas books 90 % off so grabbed several of these. I don’t count these in the 200 a month sine they are for the yard and daycare.

I bought some letterce, 2- 4lb tubs of lard that was marked down, canned peas, bannanas, and cashwes, butter and I bought a small tub of orange chicken from the deli ( I hadn’t eaten all dayand it was 4 and I was starving since I went to WM after the funeral) so I spent 23.19 add that to last weeks 87.18 fro 110.37 spent for the month, that leaves me 89.83 for the month and 2289.63 for the year. No getting off to a very great start ugh.

Goals

Last week I got some of the grapefruits in the dehydrator, some bread made with my sour dough starter ( which was amazing), breakfast cookies made, yogurt and butter made, kombuchia poured up flavored and set out for the second fermentation, tomatoes and lemons fermenting, and some basil in salt to preserve.

This week I need to get the rest of the grapefruits put up and the oranges canned, the apples canned ( some cubed and some applesauce) , carrots, cauliflower and garlic fermenting, sour cream started, I would like to get some meatballs canned and start some mead if I have time.

I finally got the baby blanket finished, This week I need to do some mending and I would like to make some bags out of feed sacks.

Fitness
I started doing my workouts again ( I am only a little sore haha) in addition to the workout I am walking on the tread mill want to work up to 30 minutes.

What I am reading,
I am reading Siege of Stone by Terry Goodkind ( he is one of my favorite fiction writers) been waiting almost a year for this to come out.

Fair
Time to start on that again, I am working on the web page right now.

I need to finish or at least get close to finishing up the web page, I also need to get a list made for kids day and I am wanting to put a list together of different classes and demonstrations to have.

Extra Business,
This is something new. I am wanting to make some extra money this year ( that whole getting out of debt thing) so I will add the things that I am doing towards getting that off the ground. I will be selling soaps, lotions, salves, balms, 100% crocheted cotton wash cloths, wax wraps, bags, Jams and jellies, breads and a few other things. So this week I need to look into getting my food handlers licence and work on my branding.

And just because I don’t have enough to keep me busy I am going to be starting a first responders class next month. I have been wanting to do something like this for a long time looking forward to it plus it will be nice to have that extra knowledge.

MAN this is going to be tough.. HAHAHA

Was able to clean out the Garage enough to fit the new-to-me Jeep in there, so it’s happy with the 50degs, rather than -3 outside 🙂

Read or should I say re-reading the Going Home Series. A little rough language, but not bad, a LOT of good ideas in the series to prepare for what “may” come.

Waiting on spring…. reallll BAD, this winter seems to be dragging on for some reason. I just want to get my hands dirty in the Garden.. SOON!!!!

      NRP,
Can’t forget the cookies lol. Haha really makes you think about all you spend and how all the little stuff adds up you can do this though.

Bet your new jeep is happy now. That is one thing I wish we had was a garage I hate having to shovel snow off my truck and then having to let it warm up for hours before I can go anywhere.

Going home Series is one of the few that I haven’t read yet will have to put it on my reading list. Always looking for something new to read.

I am also so so tired of winter( hate doing chores in all this snow) but I said last fall I wouldn’t complain if we got a ton of snow since we need it so bad. But I would really like to get out and do some yard work and plant my new raised beds. Guess I should enjoy the fairly slow time now though since in a few months it will be so busy I won’t be able to think haha.

        Rancher’s Wife;
The Going Home Series is a little rough for some, some violence and language (sort of like real life), but I like the ideas and the dedication he has to “Get Home” to his family.

Wanted to add I’m picking up another 3 gallons (6-1/2 Canning Jars) of Honey today. The folks that are producing are calling it quits; the Hubby had a heart-attack. So time to slow down. So in a year or two (have 9 gallons stored) I’m going to hit ya up for your contact for Honey up there.

Kombuchia, I’m not happy, think I killed my Scoby  have a 2 gallon sitting there and nada, and the Scoby is just sitting on the bottom. May need to get another start. OR maybe it’s just a little too cool in the house now, Spring is coming hehehehe

Speaking of Mead…… I make a heck of a Mead, we’ll need to Barter some one of these days…. Have a batch of Black Berry that’s 5-6 years old now…. YUMMMMMM

    NRP,
Haha I can probably handle the series, spent several years working around oil field not much bothers me anymore haha. And always looking for new ideas that I may have not thought of.

Sorry about your honey people always a shame when something like that stops or slows down hopefully they can maybe find someone to take over.

If you need a starter maybe I can figure a way to get one to you. I don’t get that way very often but know people who do. If you can’t find one around here just let me know and will see what we can figure out.

Will have to take you up on the mead I will find something to barter with haha Mead is one of my favorites and no one here sells it any more heck not very many even know what it is haha.
