Hi All.

Let’s talk a little more about the ‘Stuff’ you need to be Storing in the Deep Pantry.

Pizza:
Ok, a show of hands out there, Who doesn’t like a ‘GREAT’ Pizza???
You get me one of those good pies with all the fixings on it (NO Anchovies) and I’m happy for a bit, add a good Homebrew Beer and now were talking.
The average consumption of Pizza in the US is right at 1.26 million per hour, yes that’s right 30 million in a single day… That my friend’s is a LOT of Pizza!!!

Okra:
Ok, now Okra on the other hand is NOT on my “To Do List” for sure, now if you happen to like Okra, that’s not a problem, I just don’t care for it much.

Keep on reading my friends, I do have a point to all this.

Do you know what that is?

Good old Wheat Berries, Hard as a rock and full of nutrition.
99.9% of “Preppers” will tell you need to store a bunch of this, along with a few ‘Tons’ (Yes Tons) of other stuff (You know the list) that you should know how to cook and use to feed your family.
AND I will agree with most of the things on the “List”, except Okra HAHAHA.

.

Waste of food:

And lastly how many hundreds/THOUSANDS of times have you seen this?
Here is a little lookup on the ‘net’ of Wasted Food.

“Each day in the United States approximately one pound of food per person is wasted. This equates to 103 million tons (206 billion pounds) of food waste generated in America in 2017, or between 30-40 percent of the food supply, according to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).”

Ok, I don’t know about you but that seems like a HECK of a lot of food wasted!!!!

Pantry:
Ok, I don’t care what your Deep Pantry looks like, honestly mine is a mess, so I’m not to judge at all.

So, what is the point of this short Article you ask?

Let me ask, is your Family going to eat a pile of Wheat Berries with a can of Okra dumped on top? Or are you going to feed them something (Especially in times of HIGH STRESS aka SHTF) they will eat and semi-enjoy the meal?

I’m talking Short Term SHTF here; let’s say a week or two. The power went out (or whatever) and you have to feed the crew, what you going to feed them? Pizza would be nice, IF you can build them from your stored ‘Deep Pantry’ food (remember that Freezer is only going to stay frozen for a couple of days). Got a recipe you happen to like AND have made before?
So, why not store up enough for a few dozen Pizzas in your Deep Pantry?
How about adding a few more things you know the Family likes and are easy to make if/when everything goes to heck in a hand-basket?

I have talk a lot about what could happen, how about you take a few minutes and YOU decide if the Stores are going to sell Pizza and/or other foods you need after all heck breaks out ‘AGAIN” remember last year’s Pandemic?
Have you been listening to the NEWS about Supply Shortages, and Price Increases?
Do you have just a little Food stored up ‘Just-In-Case’?
Just my 2 cents worth, but the World is going Crazier each day it seems, does it not make sense to be ready for even just a little disruption in your daily life?

.

Folks Life is Good here on Lightning Point.
Ole Blue is grateful for the stockpile of grub I have for him, and to tell the truth, I’m kinda happy for those Pizzas I could build if needed.

BUT!!!!! If you are going to Store up Food, make darn sure you know how to use it and make darn sure you’re NOT going to just toss it out because nobody will eat it.

Store What You Eat, and Eat What You Store.
