Hope everyone had a great Memorial Weekend. On Sunday we took a picnic and drove up to lone cone.

On the way up we could see the beginning of the “Horse Creek” fire in the distance coming back down we could see it had really grown.

It was so dry up there most of the creeks and ponds were all dried up there were a few that had a little water in them.

Just loved all the pretty wildflowers.

On Monday we went to the cemetery, cleaned up and put flowers on some grave sites.

Saturday I went to another word press workshop, I love these I am learning so much and meeting some really nice people.

Wednesday night another fair board member and I got together and got the fair book put together and ready to got to print.

I finally got the SW Farm to Yarn webpage up and running.

300 a Month

I bought some bananas, bread ( for daycare sandwiches), Almonds and cashews ( for nut butter), coconut oil spray, tea, kitchen bouquet, lunch meat, dish soap, milk, sour cream ( on sale got 4), mushrooms (were  marked down), alum, spinach, and carrots.

I spent 54.30. Ugh, I am not doing good. I am going to have to start doing better now that my income is going to be next to nothing this summer. Add that to the months total of 172.64 for 226.94 for the month. I have spent 856.29 so far for the year. That leaves me with 2743.71 for the year.

The pineapples are just now starting to get ripe so I will do them this week. I did get 20 pints of pineapple juice canned last week.

So this week I will get the rest of the pineapples canned, I need to get one of the turkeys out of the freezer and get it cooked and canned up. We have a beef going to the butcher on the 12th so I have got to get room made in the freezer for it. I also need to slice the bacons from when we had the pig processed, those should have been done some time ago. I will can a bunch of the bacon.

Sewing table and fiber arts,

Didn’t get any sewing done and as bad as I hate to say it the quilts are not going to be done in time for the girl’s birthdays ao hopefully I can get them done for Christmas ( where does the time go?). I did get a little crocheting done on the wash clothes. Hope to get more crocheted up this week.

I got most of the back patio area cleaned and ready to use. Watered all the trees. Got the chicken coop and goat pen cleaned out. Will get the calf pen done this week. I need to mow the back and front yards, finish up a little on the back patio and start the front yard. Got two of the raised bed ready to plant ( need to get more dirt for the others). So hoping to get them planted, dirt in the others and get them also planted. Hopefully, we can get the others that we are wanting put together this week.

Haven’t had time to even pick up one book 🙁 .

We have a wedding to go to next weekend we will take the camper so I have to get it cleaned and ready to go.

As bad as I hate to admit it I did no workouts this week. Starting next week I am going to only have two part-time kids to watch so I will have more time to do my workouts plus get other things done.

I didn’t get much done here either. Same thing hoping I can devote a little more time to it starting next week.

    300 a Month;

    Ok Ok I have to laugh a little every time I see this. I’m lucky to do $600 a month, but will admit I’m stockpiling for the upcoming Retirement and subsequent decrees in income. I will admit the Deep Pantry is looking good, along with the full freezers.
    FYI, it cost me $54.30 just to walk into a store HAHAHAHA
    Blue, my 118 pound Black Lab is very happy with the idea of having 500 pounds of Dog Food at the ready.
    Is 600 rolls of TP really enough?

    A word of Caution, Fire Season is among us; please don’t burn my house down…. OK? Here in NM there is a Stage 1 Drought declared and a full on NO-BURN in effect.

    Would suggest a GREAT book called “End of Food” it covers all aspects of the origins and downfall of Mass Produced Foods, what’s becoming of the quality (or lack of) in the current foods, and the lack of Nutrition. It also covers a lot of “what if” scenarios and the reasoning’s of growing and storing your own foods.

      One thing that helps with the 300 a month is I do have a very deep pantry. So I am able to use from that and just buy sales to replenish. I do have to admit there is almost no better feeling than looking at full pantries and full freezers. I do have to admit and this is something I need to work on is I don’t have a lot of dog food put back have a little and several jars canned but I really need to get more.

      Not to sure 600 rolls is enough haha. If my girls move back home that might last a couple months haha. I think that is one of those things you can never have too much of and also a back up ” Family Cloth” ( I thought about reposting that article and dedicating it to you hahahaha.

      I had seen where others were ready ” End of Food” I have it on my to-read list pretty sure it will be very informative, plus will be one more reason I will want to produce all my own food.

      I saw there was a fire up close to your part of the world hoping it wasn’t to close. It is pretty scary here so so dry had a lightning strike fire the other day they were able to get on it quick but was taking off pretty good. I am trying to make sure all is cleaned up around the house to lessen the chances of fire around the house.

      Have a great day

        Wanted to comment on the Deep Pantry;
        I feel a very close second reason for a Deep Pantry is for NOT having the need to buy at “full cost/price”.
        The adage of “Store what you use and Use what you store” is key to successfully saving a LOT of cash.
        Personally I don’t buy anything that’s not “on sale”, even Fuel.
        I guess y-all might call me cheap, but I call it smart. How is it a Store can put something on sale for 30% off and still make money? Because they charge 50% more to begin with and make you feel good you found a sale.
        I chuckle at the Sales Slip you get when leaving a Grocery Store like Safeway, they always tell you “you saved ‘xzy’ today” I simply say back “Nooooo you are charging too much to begin with to give that much of a “discount””.

        Nope, no fires too close to me, and want to keep it that way….. Although I do have good insurance…..
