A No Spend Year

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

I have decided I am going to try and do a no-spend year. I have been seeing a lot about no-spend months but I am going to take it a step further and do a no-spend year. No unnecessary money spending.

So just exactly what is that and how am I going to do that you ask. So with the no-spend challenges, you make your own rules what best works for you, and what your end goals are. My year goals for this is to spend as little as I can, especially since I am unable to work right now. I will be paying my bills. My utilities but I will be trying to lower them to as low as I can get them. I will still buy food and household supplies but for me, I will not be buying them unless they are on sale. I know there are a few things that don’t really go on sale so I will try to make my own, do without, or just buy the bare amount that I need.

I will do either a weekly or monthly update, I haven’t decided which yet.

As I mentioned I won’t be buying unless it is on sale, but I will buy enough of said item to last for the year or until I know they will be running another sale. I will also get enough to can if it is something that I can’t grow myself.

I will allow for one or two times a month of eating out since we have to go to the next town over for Doctors’ appointments and it is just to hard to take food with us.

I want to lessen my trips to town and just go when I have a Dr appointment. Or I have to deliver crayons, baked goods, and sensory bins that I am selling. If I plan correctly I can combine my errands with these two things.

I will not buy any more craft supplies until I use up what I have. If I do have to have something to add to a project that I am selling then I will allow myself to get it. I should have enough to keep me busy for the next couple of years haha.

I am cleaning out and organizing so I can find what I need when I need it instead of just running to the store and getting a new one.

I am going to be starting a new workout but will use a free one from youtube. I have a treadmill and weights so I can make that work.

Are you thinking of doing a no-spend month or year? If so let us know in the comments. I will also be updating this on my youtube channel, you can check it out here.
