We took a jeep trip this pass weekend and went over Imagene pass then went and had lunch in Ouray then came back home over Ophir. There is just so much to see on these trips and pictures don’t even begin to do it justice.
This is on the way up just leaving Telluride.
A little further up you can see Bridal falls and the road coming off Blackbear pass.
about halfway up, the flowers were all so pretty.
A waterfall under the road.
Tomboy Mine, I got a lot of pictures here so I will do a separate post on it.
The last stretch of road before you get to the top.
The top of Imagene you can see so far in every direction all 3 of these are facing in different directions. It is like standing on top of the world. I do have to say it was the warmest on top that I have ever seen it. Usually when you get to the top and you start hunting a jacket pretty quick.
Headed down the other side.
The flowers and the columbines were just gorgeous.
Found Snow had to be over ten feet high. There was quite a bit of snow on the way down.
Upper Bird Camp Mine. They had it fenced off but you could look through the fence it had Ice in it and you could feel the cold air coming out of the tunnel as you got closer.
When we got into Ouray we stopped and had a late lunch then we headed home over Ophir.
There were several areas where there had been slides this past winter. You can see they just laid those trees down like match sticks.
Top of Ophir not near as high as Imagene.
Out of the whole trip, this is my least favorite. going down this last little bit on Ophir it is one lane (really more like 1/2 a lane)there is slide rock on both sides and it sounds like you are driving on glass. You have to hope that the people at the bottom are paying attention and don’t start up until you are down since there really isn’t room for two vehicles to pass each other.
Got down close to Ophir and there were several more slide areas.
On the way home between Rico and Dolores, we got to see a bear watched it for about 10 minutes. there was a dead cow out in the pasture that it was eating on.
It was a great trip I have to say those mountains are my happy place. Looking forward to the next one in September for my nephews Birthday.
Thank you for sharing the photos Connie.
What a GREAT trip, as I said before I have done both passes and would do again in a heartbeat.
Black Bear, not so much HAHAHAHA
NRP,
It was a great trip those mountains are defiantly my happy place haha. I have done black bear twice and that was enough for a while lol.
Hope you and Blue are feeling better.
What wonderful views; though I really don’t think I would have been able to snap photos on the way down (with my eyes closed!).
So, so pretty!! I love the mountains and the flowers!

How Gorgeous! Truly God’s country up there—and to see so far.
From the boring flat plains of Chicagoland!
That is beautiful! What a wonderful time!

The views are gorgeous! #littlecottagelinkparty
Truly spectacular landscape! You captured it very well. That said, I do understand the feeling of not being able to do it justice. We were in and around Salida, CO in July, and I kept having the same feeling about my photos. Anyway, what a lovely outing! Thanks for sharing.
What an adventure! And the views – oh my! I’m featuring this post at the Hearth and Soul Link Party this week. Thank you so much for sharing it! Hope to see you there!
What gorgeous views! That whole area around Ouray is beautiful, haven’t been there in maybe 30 years.
